TUI will change its luggage policy in May 2024
Budget airline TUI has announced that if you booked your package holiday on or before December 21, 2023 and plan to travel from May 1, 2024 onwards, you can now bring at least 20 kg of checked baggage when flying with TUI Airways.
They have set out additional rules for travelers, explaining that if you book a TUI BLUE, Sensatori by TUI BLUE or Holiday Village package on TUI Airways flights, you will receive 25 kg of baggage per person. And couples who have booked one of the wedding packages will receive 25 kg of hand luggage for each during the flight, - writes the RSVPLive website.
All Marella Cruises and all Marella Cruise & Stay tours also have a baggage allowance of 20 kg per person, but on all premium packages on our long-haul flights with TUI Airways, people will be able to carry 23 kg of baggage.
However, if you are not traveling with TUI Airways and have booked your ticket before December 21, 2023 or traveling until April 30, 2024 inclusive, you should check your booking confirmation email or in the Manage Your Booking section to find out about the checked baggage allowance.
TUI has also set out its current rules for hand luggage, checked baggage and baby bags. We suggest you familiarize yourself with them:
Hand luggage: If you are just booking a flight, you can bring 1 piece of hand baggage weighing up to 10 kg free of charge. The maximum dimensions of your hand luggage should not exceed 55x40x20 cm and you must be able to lift your hand luggage into the overhead storage compartments by yourself. Items such as laptops, bags and items purchased at the airport must fit in 1 piece of carry-on baggage.
Checked baggage: You can book checked baggage for an additional fee at the time of booking or on our website Flight Extras if you have already booked a ticket. Booking checked baggage online is cheaper than paying by phone or at the airport.
Upgrade your fare to Premium on TUI Airways flights and you will receive 23 kg of baggage and 10 kg of hand luggage. You can do this at the time of booking or on our Flight Extras website.
Infants
Infants under 2 years old are entitled to 10 kg of baggage free of charge with TUI Airways. You can also bring a stroller for free. If you are not traveling with TUI Airways, you need to check with your airline.
Ryanair has also changed its baggage rules in recent years, and some people still don't know what they can and cannot take with them.
On their website they say: "All of our fares include one small personal bag to take on board, such as a handbag or laptop bag (40x20x25 cm), which should fit under the seat in front of you. If you need more luggage, you have different options."
Hand luggage
Priority and 2 hand luggage: You can bring a small personal bag (40x20x25 cm), which should fit under the seat in front of you, and a 10 kg bag (55x40x20 cm) on board, which will be stored in the overhead locker. This will also allow you to board the aircraft first, using the priority boarding line at the gate.
Checked baggage
Check-in bag weighing 10 kg: If you wish to check in baggage, you may add a 10 kg checked bag to your reservation. The baggage must be checked in at the airport check-in desk prior to security screening and will be placed in the baggage hold of the aircraft.
The check-in bag weighs 20 kg: If you need a larger baggage allowance, you can add a 20 kg check-in bag to your reservation. Passengers can purchase up to 3 checked bags weighing up to 20 kg in their reservation.
Children's baggage
We know that traveling with an infant can be stressful, so we allow 2 pieces of baby equipment per child free of charge to make your trip as comfortable as possible. Infants (aged 8 days to 23 months inclusive) are not allowed to carry a baby bag in the cabin. However, we allow a baby bag weighing up to 5 kg (dimensions: 45x35x20 cm) for infants traveling on an adult's lap.
