Stewardess tips: 3 main mistakes you make when booking flights
A flight attendant shared the three most common mistakes Americans make when booking airline tickets. She noted that these mistakes often lead to travel chaos.
Caroline, who goes by the pseudonym @blondevoyage on Instagram, originally posted these mistakes - and tips on how to fix them - back in 2022. However, her video has resurfaced as millions of people prepare to book tickets for the upcoming summer vacation. This was reported by nypost.com.
The first common mistake people make when booking airline tickets is the transfer time. According to Caroline, many airlines do not pay attention to the time of transfers, which often leads to unnecessary stress.
"If you book a flight with a stopover, make sure you have at least two hours between flights," she says.
The stewardess adds that planes are often delayed during peak summer travel.
She also advised international travelers to leave three hours between flights, which would give them enough time to clear customs before boarding a second flight. Caroline warned that many third-party carriers provide only 30 minutes for connecting flights.
"You don't want to be stressed and rush to get off the flight before you can catch the next flight, and the next flight will be oversold," she said.
Second, Caroline noted that many people make the mistake of booking daytime or evening flights. The airline employee urged all spectators to buy an early morning flight ticket, as it is less likely to be delayed.
"I know that you don't want to wake up at 3 am to catch a 5 am flight. But I promise that the earlier your flight is, the easier it will be," she said.
The third and final mistake travelers make is not downloading the airline's app as soon as they book their ticket online.
"It helps you a lot when you're traveling around the airport. You can find out if there are any delays and get information about your connecting flight and gate," she emphasized.
