A travel expert explained why he advises against using the iron in hotels and gave advice on what to use instead
Sometimes, you can come across very unusual videos on the Internet. Among them are those where hotel guests use the iron for unexpected purposes, such as heating pizza or frying a steak.
Gilbert Ott, the founder of the travel website godsavethepoints.com, advised guests not to use hotel irons, at least until they are disinfected and checked for suspicious stains. In a conversation with The Daily Mail.
He pointed out that eccentric tourists may use irons for various purposes, such as heating something or showcasing their "life hacks" for cooking in the room to gain followers on social media.
"It's worth checking the hotel iron or testing it on clothes that won't come into contact with the outside world before trusting it with your white shirt that will soon become crispy. Why? Pilots and others have been known to use irons to reheat pizza and other food during layovers," explained the travel expert.
He also shared a useful tip on how to press clothes without using an iron. Before taking a shower, hang your clothes in the bathroom or nearby.
The fabric will absorb the warm steam, and once it dries, the clothes will be smoother and less wrinkled.
