What do we want to do on vacation this year? Top travel trends for 2024
Vacation is the perfect opportunity to travel abroad, explore a new city, immerse yourself in a different culture, and walk many kilometers on foot... Or not. According to a new study by the leading travel app Expedia, an increasing number of travelers are seeking to do nothing on vacation.
One in four Britons said they feel the need to "do nothing" on vacation. Twenty-six percent of travelers are fully dedicated to recharging their batteries and getting rid of everyday stress by doing nothing. This is reported by huffingtonpost.co.
The constant pressure from family, friends, and work colleagues during vacation, when we try to portray the "perfect" life, can be stressful for many. According to the study, more than half (61%) of Britons feel pressured to book excursions or activities they don't really want to do during their vacation. They do it just to impress their social media followers and show that they didn't just lounge by the pool.
While half of travelers (50%) admit to feeling refreshed at the end of a vacation when they've done nothing, it turns out that 15% actually feel guilty for putting their feet up and relaxing. Additionally, 20% of travelers feel pressured to be productive and busy all the time.
An Expedia spokesperson said: "We lead such busy lives that sometimes we just want to sit back, relax, and do nothing on the beach during our vacations. However, even with time set aside for relaxation, it can be difficult to shake off the guilt of taking the time to fully rest and rejuvenate while traveling. We encourage Brits on vacation to use their well-earned breaks to recharge their batteries without worrying about what their friends, family, and social followers might think."
