It doesn't matter how nice a hotel is or where it is located if its rooms are infested with bedbugs. It's a nightmare for every traveler that can easily become a reality, so you should be prepared and act accordingly.
What if your room is already occupied by such guests? The New York Post has talked about this.
Bedbugs are small brown insects no larger than an apple seed. They easily move from place to place through luggage or clothing and live in upholstered furniture that contains blood, sweat, and other human bodily secretions.
According to HuffPost senior editor Caroline Bologna: "People who are very careful - like my friends who had bedbugs - put their suitcase in the bathroom...not on the upholstery. Most hotel rooms are carpeted, so just don't keep your bag on the carpet."
She noted that if you find these insects in your room, you should not wait a second and should immediately inform the hotel administration. Caroline Bologna emphasizes that immediately after finding these insects, you should distance yourself as quickly as possible and not come into contact with the bedbugs. She emphasizes that this problem should be addressed at the stage of its occurrence, and not after you suffer from itchy bites.
"If you decide that you don't want to leave the hotel but want to change rooms, don't move to the next room, because the same problems are likely to arise there," the expert warned.
