Two countries where tap water is not recommended for drinking
Before going on vacation, tourists often look for all the important information about their destinations. One of the issues of concern is the availability and quality of drinking water.
Travel insurance company AllClear has shared the places that most people check for water safety, adding where it is possible and not possible to drink directly from the tap, Huffington Post reports.
AllClear used Google's Keyword Planner to find the places where most people checked the condition of their tap water. The researchers found that 13 of the 15 most popular places were in Europe.
"Italy and Spain seem to be the most confusing for travelers, both with 4,400 searches per month for whether their tap water is safe to drink, followed by France and Portugal (2,400 searches each) and Greece (1,900 searches)," the team explained.
"Out of the 15 countries with the highest number of searches about whether tap water is safe to drink, only two of them recommend avoiding tap water, namely Cyprus and Turkey," the report says.
At the same time, experts advise to take into account the nuance that "although a country may be listed as 'safe' to drink tap water, such as Spain, it is also worth paying attention to the conditions in different parts of the country."
