Online travelers have been urged to refrain from using USB charging stations at airports to charge their devices. The reason for this is the risk of falling for fraudsters and leaking your personal data while charging your phone.
A travel blogger known as @travelpiratesus told her followers on TikTok. The girl explained the dangers and how to avoid such fraud, The Sun reports.
The travel expert says that open charging stations at the airport are used by attackers who install monitoring software on them that can hack an electronic device and extract all personal data from it.
The FBI has also spoken about Juice jacking, namely the process when cybercriminals use USB ports and stations in public places to steal personal data. That is why, to avoid becoming a victim and prevent the leakage of personal information, the blogger recommends that travelers take their portable chargers and charging station units.
