"They left us a bottle of Prosecco": Woman shares her trick for getting free snacks at hotels
TikTok user Julia (@thejuliabaird) said that her mother always arranges something special for her while she travels to the hotels she stays in. For example, on her way to work in Vancouver, Canada, Julia's mother called the hotel and asked them to put together a gift basket for Julia.
Julia demonstrates in a video what items her mother left for her. Thus, TikToker shared a life hack on how you can make such a nice surprise for your family while travelling, dailydot.com reports.
"If you or your mom don't call the hotel every time you travel, you're doing something wrong," Julia said.
In the next video, Julia shared her mom's secrets.
"The Internet wants to know what you say to get free snacks at the hotel," she said.
Her mom replied that she calls the hotel and builds a relationship with the employees who answer the phone.
"I tell them a little bit about myself and who I would like to send a little gift to. And just see if they can do anything to make the stay a little more special for that person," Julia's mom adds.
Her mother doesn't ask for free stuff directly, instead she just asks "if there's anything they can do."
"You won't get it if you don't ask for it," Julia's mother encouraged.
Julia added that the hotel left them a bottle of Prosecco and some chocolates.
Julia's video has garnered over 130,000 views, and allegedly former hotel employees have supported her mother's method.
"I used to work in a hotel and I gave out free snacks, water to anyone who asked for them or who was nice to me, so this solution works," one viewer confirmed.
"I worked in a hotel and every day we would pick someone to create a VIP gift basket. Usually it was someone who celebrated an event or was nice to the staff," another added.
"When I worked at a hotel, we always had different snacks ordered to make bags and put them in the rooms for things like that," a third said.
"Whenever I book, I always tell them why we are booking (anniversary, birthday, etc.) and they always leave us something. Usually chocolate or cake, disposable souvenir champagne glasses," another user shared.
