Stewardess criticizes dangerous life hack from TikTok
Recently, one of the trends on TikTok has been videos in which airplane passengers are advised to fasten their seat belts around their ankles. At the same time, flight attendants say that this is very "dangerous" advice.
"Seat belts actually play a very important role in air travel safety, like keeping your head from hitting the ceiling," says flight attendant Al J. Robert, who runs the popular Fly Guy's Cabin Crew Lounge chain. He warns that this can cause injuries as a result of a collision with unexpected turbulence, DailyMail reports.
According to him, fastening seat belts around the ankles is dangerous and can cause serious damage to the head, neck and spine. "This is dangerous advice. I think most of the crew, including myself, if we saw you sleeping soundly and the seatbelt sign was on, we would wake you up and tell you to buckle up properly," he said.
He warned that turbulence is not a joke, it can occur without warning and can be very strong. Experts remind that seat belts in airplanes and other modes of transportation are installed to ensure proper wearing and help protect passengers in the event of an emergency.
"As turbulence becomes more frequent during flights, the proper use of seat belts can help keep you and those around you safe," the experts emphasize. They warn that comfort should never come at the expense of safety.
"The skies are no place for risky behavior, especially when it comes to something as critical as wearing a seat belt properly. It's not just a harmless prank - it's a potential safety hazard," the experts warn.
