Flight attendants warn passengers against wrapping their legs with seat belts: what are the reasons
After complaining about the uncomfortable seats, some passengers invented a way to ease their leg position during the flight, which they began to share on TikTok. In the video, travellers wrap seat belts around their ankles and legs to feel comfortable on airplanes.
In particular, a similar video by a user under the nickname @alexisburnaby went viral and gained 21.3 million views on the network. However, flight attendants believe that such a situation can be dangerous if the plane gets into turbulence or has to evacuate, Business Insider reports.
In particular, a flight attendant named Cici, who provides flight tips on TikTok and Instagram, says that turbulence is the main danger in this situation. She says, "Turbulence can happen unexpectedly. Improper use can injure you or other passengers."
Her opinion is shared by an American Airlines flight attendant named Lea. According to her, during an emergency landing, a traveller will need some time to unbuckle his or her seat belt, which can delay evacuation.
"If you had to evacuate, it seems like it would be a bit of a problem," Lea said.
