Flaxseed, okra, and aloe vera: make a beneficial hair gel at home
When it comes to styling your hair, nothing holds it in place like hair gel. However, many store-bought products contain harmful chemicals that can negatively impact the health of your hair and scalp in the long run.
We suggest making your own hair gel at home using natural ingredients," writes the NewsBytes website.
Recipe 1
Flaxseed Hair Gel
Boil a handful of flaxseeds for about eight minutes, stirring frequently. Then let it cool. When it starts to thicken, strain the mixture using cheesecloth. Transfer it to an airtight container and refrigerate. You can easily use it within two weeks. Flaxseed is rich in zinc, magnesium, and omega-3 fatty acids.
Recipe 2
Agar-Agar Hair Gel
Soak the agar-agar in water for about five minutes. Bring the solution to a boil and stir constantly. Then let it cool to room temperature.
Add a little aloe vera gel and any essential oil (rose, lavender, or rosemary) of your choice for fragrance. Pour into a glass jar and store it in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.
Recipe 3
Citrus Hair Gel
Take an aloe vera leaf and squeeze out the pulp. Mix it with lemon juice and a few drops of tea tree essential oil. Store this solution in a container or glass jar and refrigerate it. Lemon and tea tree extracts nourish the hair. While the former has antibiotic properties, the latter has antimicrobial properties.
Recipe 4
Chia Seed Gel
In a saucepan, mix one cup of chia seeds with four cups of water. Leave it overnight. The next morning, heat the mixture for 10-15 minutes and stir only once. Strain to discard the seeds, then add vitamin E oil and lavender/sweet almond/castor/vanilla oil. Mix thoroughly. Allow the mixture to cool naturally and then pour it into a sterilized container.
Recipe 5
Okra Gel
Cut five okra fruits into small pieces and place them in a saucepan. Cover them with distilled water and cook for 10 to 15 minutes. After that, strain the liquid using cheesecloth or a fine strainer. Add a few drops of vitamin E oil along with lavender/vanilla essential oil. Mix well and pour the solution into a bottle after it has cooled.
