Don't give up on cleaning: a maid explains why a "do not disturb" sign doesn't make her life easier

Hotel guests often believe that they are helping the cleaning staff by refusing to be disturbed. However, the "do not disturb" sign only irritates the staff and makes their lives more difficult.
In some cases, such "kindness" can lead to cleaners losing their jobs. Maria Mata, who works at the W Hotel in San Francisco, told The Scottish Sun why maids are not happy when they don't have to clean a room.
"Maybe the guests think that it's easier for us when we don't clean the room, but when the room is not cleaned for two or three days, it becomes very dirty," she explained.
Even if the cleaner has less work one day, the next day she will have more work and limited time to clean.
