Do not show off your body in this Croatian city: You will be fined for it
In Split, Croatia, you can't walk around in a swimsuit and without a shirt. This is prohibited by the law on order and cleanliness of the city. The ban applies to all public places, including streets, parks, squares, beaches, and public transportation.
The decision was made by the Split City Council earlier this year, Croatia Week reports.
"In zone A (the cultural and historical centre), it is forbidden to be in a public place in a swimsuit, underwear, or without clothes," the decision says.
Violations are subject to a fine of 100 to 1,000 Croatian kuna.
The purpose of this decision is to keep the city clean and provide comfort to residents and tourists. Swimsuits are considered unacceptable clothing for public places. Instead, people are asked not to show off their bodies, and men are asked not to appear with a naked torso.
If you want to walk around the city, you should dress according to local customs. In Split, it is customary to dress modestly. Public utilities will patrol the streets to identify violators.
