Comfortable flight from Canada to Singapore without fatigue: 3 recommendations from a traveller
Germaine Arenas, a 27-year-old traveller, told us how she overcame this long route and was able to be cheerful at the end of the journey. The woman was born in the Philippines, grew up in Singapore, but has lived in Canada since she was 18.
She wanted to show her boyfriend the places of her childhood and went on a long trip that lasted about 30 hours. How to properly prepare for such a flight is described in the businesssider article.
In total, Germaine Arenas took three economy-class flights. She recommends choosing a red-eye flight when there is a large time difference. A round-trip economy class ticket from Winnipeg to Manila, including a stopover in Singapore, cost $2,100.
Germaine began her journey with an Air Canada flight from Winnipeg to Vancouver. After a three-hour layover, she and her boyfriend boarded a 15-hour Philippine Airlines flight to Manila, where they waited four hours before catching the last flight to Singapore.
Germaine's tips for a comfortable long-haul flight
1. Bring everything you need to help you fall asleep
In order to sleep better, Germaine takes melatonin supplements with her. She also recommends taking noise-cancelling headphones.
"On the flight from Vancouver to Manila, I was surrounded by children and babies. Wearing headphones made it easier to block out the noise on the plane, so I had a good rest despite the long journey," she says.
She also brought travel pillows and blankets, which helped make the cramped airplane seats more comfortable, especially when travelling in economy class.
Despite the time difference between Winnipeg and Singapore of about 14 hours, Germaine managed to get enough sleep, so she was full of energy before arriving in Singapore.
2. Stock up on food before you go to the airport
Take enough food with you before you travel. It's better to have a shortage than to be hungry and tired on the plane.
Realize that food prices at the airport are inflated, and many passengers go hungry in search of the best deal.
3. Bring different clothes with you
In Canada and Southeast Asia, you will find different weather, so it is better to prepare in advance and put the necessary things in your carry-on luggage. As a result, you won't suffer from heat or chill when changing flights.
4. Let others disembark first
Many passengers are eager to get off. They squeeze into the narrow aisle of the plane to get off first and don't let other passengers get their things in peace.
Lately, I've been letting them disembark first. I take my time picking up my bags and staying calm.
