A warning for travelers in the United Kingdom: before your trip, it's worth checking the clean pages of your passports
Travelers are being urged to check the blank pages of their passports before traveling to the UK in 2024 - or risk losing their vacation.
Following the UK's exit from the EU, it is now more important than ever to check your passport before traveling, as anyone with a UK passport must meet Schengen requirements to travel to any EU country except Ireland. A travel expert warns that there is one rule about blank passport pages that few people know about. This is reported by huffingtonpost.co.
"If you run out of blank passport pages, you will have to renew your passport before it expires. Some countries, such as Italy, require a completely blank visa page for valid entry, while others, such as South Africa, require at least two," says Cody Candy, CEO and founder of Bounce, a luggage storage and travel services company.
He also added that before traveling, you should be sure to familiarize yourself with the requirements of your chosen country to avoid getting into trouble. Candy warns that fake government passport renewal websites are a serious problem for travelers.
"These sites try to charge users £20-100 on top of the official passport application fee by offering additional 'verification' services. When applying for a new passport, be wary of such websites and only use trusted sources," explains Candy.
According to the new Schengen requirements, passports must be valid for at least three months before travel, but the date your passport is issued also depends on the rules. To travel, your passport must be issued less than 10 years before the date of entry into the country you intend to travel to.
